    Re: Exercise your freedom.

You do realize that Boucher was one of the dems that voted against it, right? Of course I didn't agree with that at all, but he did.

yeah i know, but what you didnt understand from my post is that people are scared to death of obamacare, and want anyone that could be even closely or remotely influenced to join in on it OUT of here. "I love rick boucher", killed our chance of having rick boucher back. When a man comes in promising you the world, and delivers nothing, you can expect major changes. Like i said in another post, the republicans werent getting it done for us, so i had hoped Obama could come in and help out, but he isnt doing anything either and MOST people can see that.

R13 man, you cant expect a bunch of coal miners to vote for somebody who wants to shut down a COAL POWERED plant that would bring in jobs for us. And yes, it would shut it down because the fines would be so freaking outrageous from emmisions that they wouldnt be able to operate. Before they start doing ridiculously stupid **** like that they need to bring in alternate energy sources to our area. Trust me im as shocked and sad to see Boucher go as anyone that followed his progress here, but once you start screwing with the coal (sadly the backbone of this whole area) then you have lost your votes. I hate it, but you cant really blame people from the area.
Cant we all just get along?

Of course common sense wasn't used with that and logic didn't win over.
I'll agree "dumbassery" lost the seat, the "dumbassery of Obama. This wasnt a regional thing, it was a nationwide rebellion against Obama. That was very evident when someone who has been in a certain office for 30 years, helped this area out tremendously, and the public has to get rid of him to prove a point to Washington...can you not see that?

exactly, as sad and pitiful as this may seem its definitely what went WRONG here, and i will say WRONG because there is no way boucher shouldnt be celebrating another victory.

That is my worry- Boucher didn't set the world aflame, but this guy won't be as respected as Boucher was. And the thing about not living in this area- Va has a history of ending at Roanoke. I can't see this gent paying much attention to what far SWVA needs or wants.

Go get a ****ing job and shut the hell up, oh I forgot, there aren't any jobs because your buddies have screwed up the whole **** country.
Freebies? I'd stop spouting off with someone you don't have a clue about. I've probably been a lot more successful than you have with your pathetic life, a grown man acting like a little 13 yr old *****.

I haven't seen that one, really I haven't, not saying you didn't get it either. I've seen 4 mailings and 3 are about him not being here and the other was about his vote on electricity rates.

I will agree with you that Boucher did do a lot for the area, but there is no way you can say on one day after the election that Griffith will not do anything for SWVA. Of course when he was in the House of Delegates he didn't go out of his way to bring things to Lee/Wise/Scott etc. That wasn't the district he represented. Go ask the constituents of the district he represented what he did for them and I am sure they will speak highly of him or they wouldn't have continued to elect him. It is not like he is some political no name that has no experience what so ever, in fact he has more political experience than our current president did when he was elected. I understand that he has different opinions and beliefs than you do and what he does you will probably not like because he will not support the liberal agenda. But it is common sense that he will do everything he can for the area unless he wants to get voted out in two years.
Sorry, I won't "suck it up" when it's my education in the balance, when there is a childrens cancer center that I proposed to Mr. Boucher in the balance, when it's my grandparents future in the balance. Don't expect me to be quiet about it when all of that is going to be hurting because of this fool. I never said that I know what he will do, but I do know what he can and can not do and a very good idea of where his priorities will be. I'm sure Griffith will be wonderful for the eastern part of SWVA, they'll be just fine, it's my area that I'm worried about. He is a political no name, he's a **** delegate, there's a reason he wouldn't run for his own district.

You just really aren't grasping what this means for SWVA and how far this set us back. As you can see I'm not alone, others see how important he was for us, now he's gone and we lost a great congressman because of sheer ignorance. Nothing at all says he would do anything for our part of the 9th, do you even know what his plans are? List some, love to hear them, since he failed to mention them. Oh wait, he did list some...

    1) Stop Cap and Trade.
    2) Balance the budget and cut spending.
    3) Stop Obama.

So since we have some plans, could you tell us how he's going to do any of that?

And people don't need to be, that's the problem, they're not liking Obama for all of the wrong reasons. He's done plenty, more than Bush or Reagan ever did in their 16 years between them. It's just a lot of people not informed, not seeing what he's actually done and soaking up what they hear on Fox Noise. People don't realize that when any President likes you, it can only equal good things for that area.

Sure they wouldn't, but Obama has nothing to do with that bill. He hasn't signed anything with that bill, plus the cap and trade part is a tiny part of the entire bill. Coal isn't bringing in that many jobs, it's keeping jobs, but it will only cause a loss as time goes on - the bill creates green jobs that will not only be here forever, but will grow. I absolutely blame the people around here, esp. for voting based on that issue, considering what Boucher did to the bill and weakened that part of it. What's so ironic is that these were the same geniuses that voted for McCain two years ago, who has personally proposed cap and trade legislation himself several years ago.

Boucher didn't "turn his back on coal", we turned our back on him when he needed us most and I'm ashamed to live in the same place as these people, seriously. I can put it a lot on the eastern part of the 9th, where he lost the biggest, but he got a lot of votes here too which is pretty disgusting.

No one "had to" get rid of anyone, it was their own stupid choice to do it. Apparently they didn't get enough of the complete failures from the GOP the 8 years prior to Obama, so they ask for more. I have really no sympathy and don't think much of anyone who voted for Griffith around here, I'd cut off that clean drinking water Boucher got them and that broadband they probably use, those cell phones they like to use too.

It was because in Congress, if they needed his vote to pass it, he was going to vote to help get it passed.. but he didn't vote on it..
Also for partial birth abortions, which I disagree with.

I think you miss the point of what EVERYONE here is saying. It's not that people around here really wanted to lose Boucher. Everyone here is saying it's his relationship with Obama that lost it. Stating a fact, not an opinion of why Boucher should have stayed in office. People are fed up with with what is happening in Washington, and apparantly they were willing to sacrifice locally to put a stop to it nationally.

that's it... it's the nation standing up, and sacrificing the small people to make 1 big point.
They're sending a message to the Washington, and hopefully it's heard loud and clear.

How? Well at 20, no kids, I'm working on my Bachelors, work in politics and campaigns, have met state senators, delegates, congressman, US Senators, and a former President, in a few years I will have my bachelors I will be running campaign offices(maybe local, maybe another state, depends on where I am sent). Oh and a two-time cancer survivor. Especially compared to that self-proclaimed redneck, I think I'm doing quite well at this age, laugh at it all you want though.

Not much now, since Boucher did lose, I really have began to look at out of state Universities.

No I get what you're saying, I just still think it's bull****, meaning it was just a lot of ignorance just like it is with a lot of views regarding Obama. So if they're really that whacked to oust someone like Boucher, all to send a "message to Obama" who has done a massive amount of things for us in a short amount of time...then **** em, I don't even consider them real virginians if that's the case.
